About Jane

Jane draws on the animal world, flowers, fruit and vegetables, early costume and the human figure for inspiration, all interpreted with an original, playful and often quirky eye. As significant influences on her work she cites fine artists such as Peter Blake, Eduardo Paolozzi and Elizabeth Frink, through to more traditional crafts, such as the work of the Staffordshire Potters.

All Jane's ceramic pieces are hand built and hand painted, using stoneware glazes and enamels. Subtle colour and seductive surface texture, and use of strong, simple forms are key elements in her work. Her delighful pieces are immensely appealing but never sentimental. Scale varies from small intimate pieces to large-scale garden sculptures.

Jane was born at Walton-on-Thames in 1966. She studied ceramics for seven years, achieving a first Class BA Hons at Central St Martins School of Art and an MA at The Royal College of Art. She has exhibited widely in the UK and also in Europe and the USA.
